‘Taisho Tama’ makes an excellent dwarf specimen tree in the Asian garden or mixed conifer planting. It can be used as an upright foundation planting accent. This dwarf tree is similar in foliage to ‘Tansu’ but has a more upright and branched form. Grows to 6 feet in 15 years.

Description

‘Taisho Tama’ tends to shed its lower branches forming a dwarf “standard”. It resembles a miniature giant sequoia at only 6 feet tall. Great for under-planting. Found in the Aritaki Arboretum in Japan sometime before 1974.
